I am learning how to communicate.

I'll know I can do this when I can identify a variety of ways I can communicate with others

Something that was challenging was trying to communicate without talking.

Maths Porowhita

I am learning to solve addition and subtraction problems with integers positive and negative numbers.

I'll know I can do this when I can solve simple addition and subtraction problems involving positive and negative numbers.

Next time I would like know what negative times tables are.

Writing: Information Report

I am learning to write an information report.

I'll know I can do this when I can plan and write an information reports with a title, topic sentence, and a group of facts about a subject.

Something that was challenging in writing was to write down all the facts in my information report.   

Reading: Papango

I am learning to apply my prior knowledge to a text.

I'll know I can do this when I can think of ways I have connections to a text and I can use those connections to help decode unfamiliar words and ideas.

Something I found challenging was completing all my SML's.

Peace Week 2017

I have been learning about Peace Week.

Peace Week is an annual tradition organised by The Peace Foundation every year. You can learn more about The Peace Foundation by following this LINK.

As a way to learn about Peace Week I did three different Peace Week activities.

With Miss Brennan we created a poster to help promote peace and Peace Week.

With Mrs Baker we made hand print doves and wrote messages of peace on them.

With Mr Horn we looked at the symbols of peace such as the dove and created origami doves.

Student Led Conference

My highlight at my Student led conference was Statistics because I think that i'm really good at it and I enjoyed it. 

I am most proud of my Sharing my reading because I wasn't too good at reading but I got through it.

I think my parents enjoyed my maths because my parents really want me to be the best at year 4 at maths and my parents want to know what level I am at in maths and what Strategies I use. 

Next time I would like to Share my art Skills.

Reading

My learning goal this term is to order and sequence ideas in a text and understand correct grammatical
features in a text.

I can do this by using my ideas from my follow up

Procedural Writing

WALHT write a procedure.
Something I learned about writing a procedure is that you have to write it in order.
Something I would like to do better is to use more adverbs.

What you will need

10.5.17

• Party cups
• Jelly crystals
• 1 cup of boiling water
• Half a cup of cold water
• A whisk
• Fruit sticks
• A measuring cup
• jug\bowl

Instructions

1. Prepare the party cups.
2. Pour 1 cup of boiling water carefully warning Adult help.
3. Slowly pour the jelly crystals into the bowl.
4. Dissolve the jelly crystals with a whisk.
5. Add half a cup of cold water in the bowl.
6. Leave the jelly cooling down in the fridge for about 20 minutes.
7. Pour the jelly slowly into the party cups.
8. Then place the fruit sticks into the party cups.
9. leave it in the freezer for about 2 hours.
10. Enjoy.

Statistics

WALHT Interpret data and record our findings.

Something I learned was being a data detective because there are lots of different ways to find data in a Statistics book because Statistics are mostly about data detecting.

My next step is to challenge my self by having harder data detecting answers and clues.

Dance

We have been learning salsa and hip hop.

I enjoyed salsa because salsa had some really cool dance moves like cross body lead.
Something I learned was the hip hop.

Writing

I didn’t see a person standing on a cloud

I didn’t see a floating hoverboard

I didn’t see a tsunami warning

But I did go see Boss baby

I didn’t go to New York City

I didn’t read an enchanted book

I didn’t blow up Mars

But I did go to Auckland

I didn’t eat a digital clock

I didn’t eat a megalodon's tooth

I didn’t eat a sweet sweet lollipop

But I did eat Korean food

Next time I would like to make my poem more interesting by having bigger words and putting in more detail.

I have been learning to create an example of onomatopoeia this is my example.

Next time I would like to include a picture in a poem.

I have been learning to be safe around  the kitchen.
We made delicious apple crumble.
I learned how to use a kitchen knife.
Something I would like to  learn more about is how to grate the apples.
